Custom-built fibreglass pools

A custom-built fibreglass pool built in the Mayfair system may require more investment up-front, however the long-term lifetime cost of ownership is much lower than other alternatives.

Concrete pools

Whilst having the benefit of also being custom built, concrete pools are comparatively more expensive to build and own, requiring more ongoing maintenance than fibreglass pools. They are more prone to staining and algae issues due to their porous surface, meaning they require more cleaning and chemical treatment. Concrete also increases alkalinity (pH), so maintaining a stable pool water balance is much harder without the continual addition of chemicals.

Whilst they appear to have a solid substructure, the course surface is not only prone to cracking but is also rough on feet and tough on automatic or robotic pool cleaners. Concrete won’t last as long as a fibreglass surface and requires more frequent resurfacing. Concrete pools don’t retain heat as well as a fibreglass pool either, so your ongoing cost of heating and length of swim season are greatly impacted.

Pre-moulded fibreglass drop-in pools

Fibreglass drop-in pools are perfect if you are on a tighter budget and have a flat, easily accessible site for transporting the pool shell into its location. Whilst you are limited to a range of pre-moulded designs, there is a range of options in various sizes and shapes to suit any backyard.

Yes - your inground pool and fence requires consent.

Every pool in New Zealand is required to be fenced according to Building Code F9 Restricting access to residential pools - meaning you will need council consent and in some instances, resource consent. We are well versed in this process and handle every component of the process on your behalf.

Once submitted the approval of consent generally takes between 4 - 6 weeks.

Yes! We construct a large marquee tent over the entire pool to protect against weather allowing us to work year-round.

Yes. Every swimming pool in New Zealand is required to have an adequate barrier in order to prevent unsupervised access by children under five years of age. As a pool owner it is your responsibility to ensure that your pool area is safe and secure.

Specialist automated equipment can greatly reduce the amount of time you spend maintaining your pool, and we will advise you on the latest technology when we meet.

However, regular pool water testing is vital for a healthy pool. We recommend you water test every week through summer and heavy bathing periods, and every 2 - 4 weeks in the cooler months.
